One More Step Closer

We reached our goal of at least 60% of monthly support in early March.  Praise Him who called us!  This meant that we could begin our pre-field training.  The picts below are from training.

We have also been working hard to move out of our house.  The Lord has seen fit to sell our house quickly (11 days on the market), so we have been clearing out.  Our wonderful community has served us by emptying it out, while we are at training.  THANKS!!!!

A huge thank you to those who have joined with us in this journey.  We CAN NOT make it to Scotland with out the support of our friends and family.  As of today, we are just over 70% now.  So, those who have yet to pray about joining us on our journey as senders, please pray.

We are humbled by the great cloud of witnesses by which the Lord has surrounded us.  Thanks and blessings to all!!!

Our Busy Spring

As is obvious, we are still getting in the grove in keeping the blog up to date!  Sorry for those who have been checking in on us. Don't give up on us.

In February, we had the opportunity to share with our friends in Charleston at East Cooper Baptist Church what we feel we have been called to.  It was a great chance for us to cast vision.  We greatly appreciate the willingness of the leaders at ECBC in allowing us to present.  It also gave some in the group (me) a chance to 'dress the part.'  Or at least the stereotypical part.

The Latest Update

We continue to press on towards our goal of getting to Dundee by mid-July of this year.  We are talking to as many folks as we can to cast the vision we have been given.  Almost everyone we speak with seems excited about the potential.  We are running at over 30% support now.  Many of our supporters are in the "pray and wait" phase of seeking how the Lord would lead them to join with us.  In the same way, we are waiting on the Lord to continue to show His faithfulness in this process.

To summarize:  We are a team of heath care providers, who have been called to reach the nations through a ministry outreach to students in Dundee.  We feel that the Lord has called us to this people group, whom we are uniquely positioned to reach because of the potential impact they can have, and due to the fact that as few as 2% has an understanding of their need for a relationship with Christ.  We are excited to know our role in the Great Commission (until the Lord directs otherwise)

If you haven't prayed about joining our team and are interested, I dare you to ask the Lord if He would have you support us financially and prayerfully.   Don't deny yourself the opportunity for this blessing!

Princess Sophia Celebrates her 5th Birthday!

Our Sophia has turned 5!  We had a great time at Little Gym.  We decided to go low maintenance.  They did a great job!  We took a break in support team raising for the celebration.

We had a really great Christmas with family this year!  Travel was benign (not too much drama with the kids- little to no screaming in the car!), good conversations and time with family and friends, and a timely reminder of Grace from our creator.

Now its time to gear up for a busy January though.  We are in the process of working our schedules, arranging meetings and talks, so that we can give our friends an opportunity to join us in our work in Scotland.   We will be contacting as many folks as possible before the end of the year in case anyone wants to make a contribution for year end!  If you need another tax deduction, we would love to help-  you can click on the link to the right and contribute through the UWM website.

Progress Report - Early December

The last couple of weeks have been busy ones for us. As we watch the days go by, we are beginning to feel the pressure of fewer and fewer days before we hope to begin our training. The pressure is there because we must be at 60% of our monthly needs before we can begin our training at CIT. As things stand now, we have about 5% of our monthly budget met. This is a difficult time to build our team, as many people have told us that after the first of year they want to talk with us. We continue to trust in His timing, because we are totally dependent on Him.

I recently got the opportunity to attend the Scottish CMF Conference in Gartmore. It was a wonderful time of meeting new people, and renewing old acquaintances. The facilities were top notch, the grounds were beautiful, the food was too good (second helpings were had at every meal), and the main speaker for the conference challenged us with "Doing the Gospel". Before & after the conference, we spent some time with our friends in Dundee. We met with interested students from the university the first night. The following day, we had a tour of the medical school facilities and a nice chat with Dr. Day. On return to Dundee, we were treated to a sermon preached by Ravi Zacharis. Our last morning in Dundee, we met with David Robertson who encouraged us greatly. A good time was had by all.

We had the opportunity to connect with one of the UWM Area Directors for Europe, Kevin Mason. As a testimony to how great a guy he is - he put up with us for about 5 days, and i never heard him complain. He even rode in the back seat of our clown car as i drove Mr.(s) Daisy (Todd, Phil, & Ned) on the wrong side of the road. You can tell he has a lot of experience accepting what God sends his way. Flexibility- a trait demonstrated in all the UWM people we have met. I'll have to learn that one.
